Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers 2025 Announcement

In order to encourage outstanding scientific talent across various fields of knowledge and to motivate Kuwaiti PhD holders to pursue research, study, authorship, and translation in the fields of scientific production, the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) announces the opening of nominations for the Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers 2025 in the following fields:

First: Award Fields:
 

• Natural Sciences and Mathematics
  Includes: Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and other related disciplines.
• Engineering Sciences
  Includes: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, and other related disciplines.
• Life Sciences
  Includes: Botany, Embryology, Zoology, Entomology, Biochemistry, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (Veterinary Medicine, Dairy Production, Poultry, Livestock, Fish), Agricultural Chemistry, Agricultural Pathology, Horticulture, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, and other related disciplines.
• Medical and Allied Medical Sciences
• These include: Anatomy, Pharmacy, Physiology, Medical Microbiology, Pathology, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, and other related fields.
• Social and Human Sciences
  These include: Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, Geography, Education, Arabic Language, Foreign Languages, Philosophy, Law, Islamic Law, and other related fields.
• Administrative and Economic Sciences
  These include: Business Administration, Marketing, Management Information Systems, Finance, International Management, Accounting, Economics, Insurance, Operations Management, and other related fields.
   

Second: Award Value:
 

• The Foundation awards a cash prize of KD 10,000 (ten thousand Kuwaiti Dinars) in each of the aforementioned fields, in addition to a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation.
   

Third: Eligibility Requirements:
 

• The nominee must be a Kuwaiti citizen.
• The nominee must not have previously won any of the Jaber Al-Ahmad Award categories.
• Nominations may not be submitted for more than one award category.
• Candidates must hold a PhD or fellowship (for medical specialties), with the degree accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. This requirement is waived for faculty members on sabbatical from government universities.
• Applicants must be no older than 45 years of age at the time of the award announcement.
• Eligible types of scholarly work include:
• Research published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Conference papers.
• Unpublished research (abstracts and posters).
• Authored, translated, or edited books and chapters thereof.
• Articles, studies, and reports.
• International patents.

Submitted scholarly work must include at least eight research papers published in peer-reviewed journals after obtaining the PhD or fellowship.

Adherence to the standards and principles of academic research integrity is mandatory.

Decisions of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences are final and not subject to appeal.
