The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) awards distinguished Kuwaiti and Arab scientists worldwide the Kuwait Prize for their significant and outstanding achievements in research since 1979. While the main areas in various scientific fields remain consistent, the scientific subfields under these areas vary annually.
For the 2025 Kuwait Prize Cycle, KFAS invites universities, scientific and research institutions, and eligible individuals, to nominate Kuwaiti and Arab scientists for the Prize in the following scientific subfields:

Basic Sciences: Mathematics (including but not limited to): Algebra & Combinatorics Analysis; Optimization & Mathematical Modeling, Calculus of Variations, Differential Equations & Dynamical Systems, Logics & Computing Theory, Statistics, Stochastic Processes Analysis, Financial & Actuarial Mathematics, Mathematical Data Sciences, Numerical Analysis.
Applied Sciences: Environmental sciences (including but not limited to): Atmospheric Sciences, Geosciences, Ecology, Environmental Chemistry, Biodiversity, Climate Change Science, Environmental Biotechnology, Water Pollution, Waste Management, Environmental Health, Environmental Measures.
Economics and Social Sciences: Sociology (including but not limited to): Urban & Rural Sociology, Sociology of the Internet, Cultural Sociology, Sociology of Women & Gender, Demography.
Humanities, Arts and Literature: Arabic Literature & Arts (including but not limited to): Critical Analysis of Modern & Ancient Arabic Literary Texts (Poetry, Drama, Narratives), Critical Theories, History of Arabic Literature, Literature of Specific Arab Countries, Studies in Arabic Cinema, Music & Formative arts.
Emerging Interdisciplinary sciences: Computational Biology & Applications (including but not limited to): Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Molecular Biology.
KFAS awards an annual Prize cash sum of K.D. 40,000 (Approx. $135,000) for each subfield, along with a gold medal and a certificate of recognition.

Conditions and requirements:

The nominee for the prize must be of Arab nationality and have proof of his Arab origins, through a birth certificate, a passport, or other relevant documents attached to the nomination application.
The nominee must not have won any field of the Kuwait Prize. Nominations may be made in only one field.
The nominee must be a distinguished researcher in the scientific field of the prize and hold a doctorate or fellowship for medical specialties.
Nominations for the prize are accepted if they are made through: universities, governmental and private institutes, previous winners of the prize, research and nomination committees, accredited international organizations, and self-nomination. The KFAS does not accept nominations from political entities.
In the case of self-nomination, the nominee must attach a detailed statement with the nomination application stating the justifications for his eligibility to be nominated for the prize, and the nomination application must be accompanied by letters of recommendation from three references affiliated with scientific institutions indicating his eligibility to be nominated for the prize.
The scientific production must have been published during the past twenty years in a continuous and innovative manner and of great importance to the subject of the award. Scientific production includes research published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, research published in scientific conferences, authored, translated, edited, and verified books, and chapters from books, art exhibitions and artistic production in the fields of arts and literature, and international patents. The research must be published in one of the main bibliographic databases and the book must have an approved international number (ISBN).
The decisions of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences are final and may not be objected to.
Nominations will be accepted until Saturday, 31st May, 2025.
