Science Communication Grant

Overview

The Science Communication Grant supports initiatives that translate scientific and technological knowledge into accessible, engaging, and meaningful content for non-specialist audiences. This grant stream aims to strengthen science culture, promote informed public discourse, and increase awareness of scientific and technological developments across society.

Science Communication initiatives focus on one-way or mediated communication of science, rather than participatory research, and are distinct from the Citizen Science Grant, which directly involves the public in scientific data collection and analysis.

Supported Scope

Eligible initiatives under this grant stream may include, but are not limited to:

• Scientific publications
  (such as books, magazines, journals, and periodicals), provided that the application is submitted by an academic institution, research center, or professional public-benefit association.

• Media and content production
  Including visual, audio, and digital media (e.g. documentaries, videos, podcasts, digital series, and campaigns) with scientific or technological content aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge and raising public awareness of technological advancements.

• Public science communication initiatives
  Including exhibitions, festivals, and public awareness activities with scientific and technological content, targeting:

  • K–12 students

  • Undergraduate and graduate students

  • Educators and teachers

Priority Areas

Science Communication applications should align with KFAS priority areas, depending on the thematic focus of the initiative:

• Environment

• STEAM Education

• Water and Food Security

• Future Economies

Priority is given to applications that demonstrate clarity of message, relevance to public needs, and alignment with KFAS’s strategic direction.

• Academic institutions and universities
